Marseille Tarot

Current historical research shows that Tarot cards originated in the 14th century with elaborate and ornate art depicted on some of these most earliest decks, that would have been reserved for the wealthy only. However it was not until the 17-18th centuries that a common structure of the Tarot was developed into what we know call the "Tarot de Marseille". One of these first Marseille Tarot decks to be printed with a set form and structure for Tarot was in 1701 and featured images printed from wood block prints. Though it had its start in Italy and Spain, the Marseille Tarot is named for the French city, and can be commonly found with either French, Italian or Spanish card titles. Below I have the French titles followed by the English translation in brackets.
